OK so we admit that it has been some time since we posted a change to www.CARLANDMEL.com
 
As this year comes to an end we bring you news of our next adventure. For those that don't know we sold our house at Mountain Road, said good-bye to the chickens and left the paddocks and altitude (well 600m, hardly a mountain, more a hill) for flatter pastures, quite literally. We have moved much further north near a place called Silverdale, very close to Orewa for those in the know. At the moment we are just renting and have decided to purchase a piece of land. We are in contract on 2.5 hectares (about 6 acres) of rolling coastal land with sea views on two aspects and rolling hills to surround. The property has direct access to the sand flats of the Kaipara harbour and frankly the photos really don't do it justice. Starting in early 2009 we will be building our own place - very exciting and exceedingly scary.

The animals took the move into the rental very well and the dogs love having lots of room to run around in during the day. Kate drove us mad the first night and after she tentatively tried to scale the TV cabinet to investigate ominous noises in the night we decided she needed to venture outdoors, which she did without butter on her paws and came home no problem.

We have taken the dogs up to the section and they approve. They didn't need a second intro to the stock trough, found their way up there all on their own. By the time we move in we hope they'll already realise it's home.

We won't promise to keep you posted with progress as it promises to be a very busy time, but if you check back in 2 years time with any luck there will be some photos of our new house.
